Employee Spotlight: Paula Glaser, Designer

Creativity has always been part of Paula Glaser’s story. Since joining Perspective Cabinetry & Design as a Designer in 2017, she has brought her artistic background and passion for thoughtful design to every project, helping clients create spaces that feel personal, functional, and made for the way they live. We’re happy to have Paula on our team and to share her journey and approach to design.

Was there a moment when you realized this was your career path?

“There wasn’t really one specific moment. It developed over the years. I’ve always been very artistic and love the arts. I was a ballet major at Butler University, but after my sophomore year I needed to take a different career path and knew design would allow me to have the creative outlet I crave. Pursuing design led me to the University of Missouri-Columbia, where I earned my BS in Interior Design.

“What drew me to Perspective was the people! Perspective is a family, and being happy in the workplace is truly important to me.”

What is your process when starting with a new client?

“I like to start by getting to know my clients and understanding how they use the space we’re designing. We talk through any problem areas, what’s working, and what isn’t. Understanding how someone lives in their space really lets me tailor the design to them. From there, we start with broader ideas and selections, then narrow things down as we go.

“There are so many decisions to make, and looking at everything at once can quickly become overwhelming. My goal is to guide clients through those choices in a way that makes the process feel easy, fun, and exciting.”

What’s a design challenge you particularly enjoy solving?

“I love puzzles, and I find that designing a space is a lot like putting one together. Everything has a place, and each piece fits for a specific reason. Space planning is one of my favorite aspects of design, and it’s especially rewarding to solve a problem within a space or find a way to make an area usable that was previously considered unusable.”

What’s a transformation you’re especially proud of?

“I’m especially proud when I can help clients transform a house they love into a home that better fits their lives and can grow with them over the years, no matter what stage of life they’re in.

“I recently had the opportunity to transform my own home into my dream house. I had a vision for the space for about 10 years, and seeing it come to fruition was very rewarding. It feels really good to show my family, especially my kids, what mom does while they’re at school. I treat every client’s home with the same care, respect, and warmth that I put into my own home.

“Ultimately, I want every client to be obsessed with their new space. I want them to sit in it and feel good.”
